We are searching for a hands-on Farm Manager with good business sense to join our team. The Farm Manager’s responsibilities include developing a new crop establishment plan, monitoring staff, crops, and animals, purchasing supplies, preparing budgets and reports, and ensuring maximum profit. You should be able to maintain professional networks and keep abreast of developments in agricultural science.
This position requires a strong practical knowledge of agricultural skills and farm management. The managers primary responsibility for the planning, coordination, and implementation of all work and activities at the farm. The successful candidate will be detailed oriented but also keep the bigger picture in mind. Outstanding candidates are keen problem solvers who are focused on efficiency and take a hands-on approach to management.
Farm Manager Responsibilities:
Analyzing existing property physical characteristics for the crops, farm animals and staff and producing annual field plans.
Develop and maintain farm infrastructure with the help of staff, interns and volunteers.
Preparing plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring staff understands expectations.
Cooperate with community partners.
Ensuring seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other supplies are regularly restocked.
Directs and coordinates worker activities, such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, payroll, and recordkeeping
Analyzes market conditions to determine acreage allocations.
Inspects fields to determine maturity dates of crops or to estimate potential crop damage from weather.
Purchases machinery, equipment, and supplies, such as tractors, seed, fertilizer, and chemicals.
Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery.
Operate large farm machinery.
Ensuring all staff adheres to health and safety regulations.
Recruitment and training of new staff members.
Willing to work in diverse and sometimes challenging weather conditions for long work hours required
Collaborating with owners to prepare budgets and financial reports.
Building professional networks and keeping abreast of developments in agricultural science.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or equivalent.
Additional courses in Business Management or Administration are recommended.
Extensive experience in a farming-related field.
Management experience would be a plus.
A passion for Agriculture.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
The ability to make decisions in stressful environments.
Skills to perform general and minor repairs
Physical stamina
Strong organizational and communication skills
